Hospital Upgrade

Feb 2023

Darling Downs Health has welcomed the news of capital funding from the State Government to build a new Millmerran Multipurpose Health Service with works to be completed in 2025.

Darling Downs Health Board Chair, Mike Horan AM said today’s announcement is an important investment in the delivery of high-quality health care for Millmerran and surrounding communities.

“To have the opportunity to build a new, modern multipurpose health service facility in Millmerran is incredibly important for the town and the communities it services. This new facility will bring about improvements for people needing treatment and care, as well as better amenities for our staff,” Mr Horan said.

The multipurpose health service facility will comprise of an eight-bed inpatient unit, five-bed residential aged care space, and acute and non-acute spaces.

“Our focus will be ensuring these projects are completed to a high standard and that the outcome is exactly what is needed in the community.”

Chief Executive of Darling Downs Health, Annette Scott PSM said the announcement will allow the Health Service to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the community.

“This is the third major infrastructure project that we’ve received funding for since June 2022 and I know that a new multipurpose health service facility will bring a revitalised healthcare experience to the Millmerran community.

“It’s an exciting time for not only us as a Health Service, but for the whole community. This investment in infrastructure in Millmerran and the recently announced new hospital for Tara forms part of the Government’s $1.038 billion Building Rural and Remote Health Program.

“We’ll be keeping our staff and community informed as these activities progress and I’m looking forward to seeing these projects delivered.” Ms Scott said
